Morning and Evening Adhkar: A Practical Daily Checklist

What this is and who it is for

This is a short, realistic routine for anyone who wants to start or restart the morning and evening adhkar. It suits students, workers, parents and new Muslims. Start with what you can keep.

How to use it

  1. Pick a fixed time: after Fajr for the morning set and after Asr or Maghrib for the evening set.
  2. Keep your adhkar book or a trusted app where you pray.
  3. Begin with the short set below and add more each week.
  4. Tick the checklist for 14 days before adding anything new.

The starter checklist

  • Ayat al-Kursi (Quran 2:255).
  • Surah al-Ikhlas, Surah al-Falaq and Surah an-Nas, three times each. Scholars of hadith have reported this practice in the collections of Abu Dawud and at-Tirmidhi; check the grading and wording in a trusted source such as Sunnah.com.
  • Istighfar: ask Allah for forgiveness.
  • Salawat: send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
  • Tasbih, tahmid and takbir: 33 times each after prayer if you can.

Common mistakes

  • Starting with too much and quitting after three days.
  • Reciting without understanding. Learn the meaning of at least one adhkar a week.
  • Using an unverified collection. Choose a source that cites the hadith and its grading.
